Thanksgiving Mass Celebrating The Canonization Of Blessed F.X Truong Buu Diep At St Maximilian Kolbe’s Church, Ottoway.

The July 2nd, 2026 was an important event for the Catholic Church of Vietnam, the day when Father Truong Buu Diep was declared a Blessed in Tac Say, Vietnam.

A Thanksgiving Mass to celebrate the Blessed F.X Truong Buu Diep was solemnly held on Friday 10.7.2026 at St. Maximilian Kolbe’s church, Ottoway parish, South Australia. A large number of Vietnamese, Polish, Indian… parishioners have attended this Mass. The blessing ceremony of Blessed F.X Truong Buu Diep’s statue presided over by Father Roland Jacques, deputy postulator at Vatican. Fr Paul Nguyen Cong Tru, celebrant, has a few words to thank Fr Marek P’Tak, Ottoway parish, for supporting Vietnamese Mass to pray for Fr Diep’s beatification process for eleven years, and welcomed all concelebrants: Fr Marek P’Tak, Fr Roland Jacques, Fr Peter Tran The Tuyen, Diocesan postulator, Fr Andrew Madry (Bishop’s Vicar) from Melbourne, Fr. Francis Trinh Van Phat, Salisbury parish, Fr Jacek Wojick, Pennington parish.

The Gospel was followed by the homily of Fr Peter Tran The Tuyen. He summarized the life of dedication of Fr Diep ( born on 1 Jan 1897 died on 12 March 1946 in Viet Nam). In November 25, 2024, Pope Francis signed a decree of martyrdom, clearing the way for his beatification and July 2nd 2026 Fr Diep was beatified by Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, special envoy of Pope Leo XIV. He recalled the memories as well as the challenges in the process of canonizing Father Diep, he also mentioned the virtues of some saints, some martyrs…There is a coincidence of the praying Mass for the canonization process of Fr Diep was celebrated in the church of St. Martyr Maximilian Kolbe, died in place of a prisoner as Fr Diep sacrificed his life for his flock.

A Thanksgiving Mass to celebrate the Blessed F.X Truong Buu Diep was held successfully and solemny.
Hopefully, the Blessed F.X Truong Buu Diep’s spirit of compassion, selflessness and service to others will be a shining example for each of us.
